Je ne sais pas, mais le nom est "letterboxing" en Allemagne. Is that
right? I have been out of high school French class for almost 15
years, now.

This is a fun sight from Germany. It has some foreign letterboxes
listed.

-I don't know if there is another name for it but I did manage to find some clues to a few
boxes in Paris. This was a few years ago when we were there and I don't know where I got the
clues, I think it was from an urban boxing site in Germany. The boxes were of an extreme
nature and I wasn't able to retrieve them but I do have pictures of the locations.

Surprisingly, clues for Quebec boxes are not written in French, except
for this entry: Nous avons directions en Francais pour tous les bon
gens de Quebec, si vous m'ecrivez.

Went surfing for an answer and came across this French site:

http://www.cndp.fr/secondaire/interdiscipline/jeuxdepiste/letterboxing/j\
euxImp.htm
jeuxImp.htm>

Looks like a Letterbox is a Letterbox is a Letterbox

Although one might need L'quipement

Further, as translated, Letterboxing is a

pastimes and leisures of the anglophone countries

Hence, as a "proper noun" - it doesn't translate for practical purposes.

i think the site mizscarlet is referring to is the spacehijackers. the url
for that is http://www.spacehijackers.org/letterboxing/
and yes, it is quite extreme. not for the faint.

Bonjour! I don't know if you got a better answer than this, but I
believe that there is a loisir en France like letterboxing called cache-
tresor. I will look back at my stuff, but I am a prof de francais, and
I hosted a student from Paris last summer who referred to this as cache-
tresor.
